Baby massage has amazing health benefits for our little ones.
Massaging your baby can help them soothe, relax and promotes the bonding experience between you and your infant. You don’t need to be a certified massage therapist, it’s all about the products, atmosphere and movement.
How can baby massage help your little one?
Baby massage can help irritated, upset and tired babies soothe, but it may also assist with bloating and wind, colic and digestion. Most of all, it’s a beautiful way for you and baby to bond, and Dads can massage baby too.
Tips to help with your next infant massage
- Use an edible oil or baby massage oil like our lovely organic baby massage oil. Our massage oil contains ingredients that are calming, nourishing and made for delicate skin.
- Sweet Almond Oil
- Soybean Oil
- Macadamia Oil
- Jojoba Oil
- Vitamin E
- Polysorbate 80
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Make sure the room temperature is warm so your baby feels comfortable
- Ensure your hands are clean and warm, as your little one will respond to your touch instantly
- Start with them on their back and gently work from the toes up using light circular clockwise motions or strokes along their legs and arms
- Be extra gentle when massaging their belly especially if their belly button hasn’t completely healed.
- Face: use your fingertips to massage their face. Gently stroke from the middle of their forehead, down the outside of their face and in towards the cheeks similar to a lymphatic facial massage. With your fingertips, massage the scalp in small circular motions as if you’re shampooing their hair.
- Back: if your baby is still relaxed enough, turn them onto their tummy and use long, smooth strokes from head to toe.
There is no time limit with each massage session. As long as they’re enjoying themselves, then you’re doing it right. Enjoy the bonding time!
