As Australia opens again after COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to support Australian small businesses.
The hangover effects from the COVID-19 pandemic has played a part in triggering Australia’s next battle, the looming recession. If it wasn’t difficult enough for Australian small businesses being forced to close doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, some may never open again. And the businesses (thankfully mine included) that have managed to get back to business as usual, it’s not without challenges.
As a small business owner, I understand the struggle and uncertainty that the past few months brought, however as I continue to grow, I want to show my support to other Australian small businesses because it’s important to keep local businesses open and operating.
There are over two million small businesses in Australia that are responsible for 97 per cent of employment and contribute one-third of the annual GDP, which basically means that without small business, Australia would be in trouble.
Supporting locals supports dreams
We’re all about mateship in Australia. Helping our fellow Aussie! And buying from local sources, you’re helping us fulfill our dreams.
Keeps the money in our economy
Buying locally helps to keep the money in our economy, which is needed since we’re on the brink of a recession.
Buying Australian made products is another conversation altogether and a personal choice based on so many factors.
Other benefits when you shop from small business
As Australians move toward more value-based conscious shopping, buying from local businesses will help to stay on this path.
Other benefits from shopping locally include:
- personalised customer service
- quicker delivery times and postage tracking
- better product and origin of source information
- queries answered by a human rather than a chatbot
- faster responses to enquires because of similar timezones.
Where can you start?
- Online
- Local markets
- Local supermarkets
- Referrals from friends
- Buy, swap and sell groups on social media
